WONDERFUL NEWS Wednesday (Day 13 Cycle 6)



Summer and NurseTanya


Dr. Parry came to visit Summer to congratulate her on finishing her treatment.  She will have the PICC line removed before she leaves the hospital.  


The mass in her chest is just residual and completely normal!  She told Summer she was so proud of her and she had the best attitude during this whole ordeal.  


Dr. Parry will continue to be her doctor for the next year, but will give some suggestions for a PCP at the Brigham at some point in the future.  She gave her some great advice about some social or emotional anxiety and depression she may experience which is normal and told Summer if she does start to feel that way to let her know.  She chatted with Summer for a long time - they had a great discussion and some great laughs. 


Summer gave to Tanya a gift bag - a gift certificate for some Hoka shoes, a letter, and some homemade chocolate chip cookies since Tonya’s going to be off for a few days.  Lots of happy, grateful tears.

    Yes! The updates are back! Kim is not allowed to go on vacation until this is over. No more!! WTF we e been holding our breath SUMMER THIS IS THE BEST NEWS!!

Team Summer converged upon Summer’s Southie apartment to celebrate her 1 year “cancerversary” which Summer decided was going to be on the day she was admitted (versus her last day of treatment or NED).  We had a fantastic evening with lots of laughs - probably therapeutic to be able to tell stories NOW, with Summer being so healthy.  Summer wanted a “Frankenstein cake” to celebrate, so that’s exactly what we made.    Celebrating 1 year with Summer’s friends at her apartment

Summer is OFFICIALLY CANCER FREE!!

 OMG BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! Summer met with Dr. Parry - got her results today and she is “NED - No evidence of disease” - which means that Summer is officially cancer free and in remission!!!! Her heart is “totally normal” and Summer has moved into surveillance mode with check ins every 3 months for the next two years!!! 💚😂💚😂 Bob took a ton up pictures and we will write up a post later but for now …  WE CELEBRATE!!

Finally time for a HAIRCUT!

Summer is glowing after her haircut this evening!    Summer’s gorgeous hair is growing in full & thick!  In celebration of her returning locks, Aunt Becky gifted her a haircut in Boston which she took advantage of this evening - and WOW !! 🤩🤩🤩 “No more mullet!” ~Summer We have all loved watching Summer’s hair grow back.  Summer looks STUNNING in short hair.  Tonight was a wonderful milestone and made a huge difference being able to go to a salon to get it cut & styled.  YOU LOOK AMAZING SUMMER!! 💚💚💚
