PICC Line OUT Thursday (Day 14 Cycle 6)

Summer is getting discharged from the hospital today but was warned that she “barely made the cut”.  Her white blood count is still low but her neutrophil count is exactly at 500 - so the doctors have given the ok for her to go home.  Also turns out that she’s allergic to two different antibiotics, not severely, but important to note going forward.

Around noon Laura sends out the good word, “One more bag of saline, one more cup of broccoli cheddar soup from au Bon pain, picc line removal then HOME!”

Nurse Debbie removing the PICC line.

The tubing in Nurse Debbie’s hand is the actual PICC line!

PICC LINE IS GONE!!!

Summer was discharged around 2:30pm and made it home safely to rest.  Summer was hugely relieved to finally get that PICC line removed.  She’s home, not feeling great - but BETTER.  πŸ˜€

Pops graciously picked up Bob and Kim at Logan airport this evening and Team Summer is looking forward to being all together again tomorrow with Summer at HOME!

GOOD NIGHT!

  1. This is such incredible news. It must feel strange having the line removed. Strange and probably freeing. You have been in our daily prayers. It looks as if you are so close to the end of this - we pray that it’s true.

  2. That is a frighteningly long tube your nurse has in her hands. I’m afraid to ask how she got it out. A significant milestone you’ve hit on your road to recovery.
