PMC Saturday (Day 2 Cycle 6)

One of the many fun signs we made to celebrate Dave's ride at the PMC

Schedule:
  • 7:30am Pan Mass Challenge Franklin Water Stop
  • Beat the Heat
  • Work on thank you to Nurses project

We found the perfect spot to watch the PMC riders right beyond the Franklin water stop with amazing people!

Dave was fast and on FIRE, blazing through the first part of the course.  We were tracking him on the app and learned he was going to arrive much earlier than originally anticipated, so after realizing we couldn't actually park AT the water stop, we found an amazing spot with a fabulous group of people just past the water stop in Franklin.  Our new friend Tina welcomed us with open arms.  They had a delicious spread - eggs, bacon, muffins & pastries, mimosas and bloody marys - and they insisted we join them.  What a fun and wonderful group of people with inspiring survivor stories.

The riders LOVED our signs.  They CHEERED and clapped when they saw Summer and a lot of people rode by saying "DAVE ROWSE!  We know that guy!"  hahaha

MORE COW BELL

I loved Bob on top of the van cheering!!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the day. The live version of the picture is better because you can really tell what’s happening - we are cheering for this rider but when we sees Summer, he starts sheeting for HER!  One of the many powerful moments from the day.

AND HERE COMES DAVE!!!!

Nice big SWEATY hugs from Dave! ;)

Dave Rowse - I am riding for Summer

Dave looked GREAT and said he felt great too saying he was going faster than he had expected and he hopes it doesn’t come back to bite him later! He loved the van & was touched that even during chemo Summer came out to cheer him on.

Dave made it to Bourne and successfully finished Day 1 of the PMC. Tomorrow is the final part 2 of the PMC where he’ll finish the ride then enjoy a big well deserved party in Ptown with Lesley and all the riders.  THANK YOU DAVE!

Thank you Aunt Jen, Uncle Bob, John, KOLBE, Bobby, Ellie, Maria, Joey & Aiden for the cool Rock the Treatment care package!

Back at home, the name of the game was to STAY COOL & hydrated in this 100 degree heat!  The dogs swam & Summer painted gift bags for her nurses in the AC.

Summer Strong sand sculpture- Best Wishes from Lesley at the Cape!

Here’s a video of the sand drawing where you can see it better. Thanks Lem!

WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY!  We were inspired by the riders and the people cheering them on - we will definitely add the PMC to our annual adventures- there was talk about maybe even a tandem joining future rides!!

Physically, Summer felt just “ok” today. A little nauseous and her body’s already getting worn down/tired from the meds.  Tomorrow she goes in with Bob to Dana Farber to swap out her chemo bag with day 3 and 4 medication and hopefully  Laura, Colby & Derek might be home from what sounds like a very productive & successful baseball tournament.

🚴 Good Night! 🚴
