Friday (Day 8 Cycle 6)

Today Summer is 3 days out of chemotherapy and moving into her low white blood count of the cycle. Dr. Parry said this last chemo treatment that Summer just completed was less intense/potent, even though the volume of meds seemed equivalent. We are hoping for a BORING week.

Today is Day 8 of Summer’s last cycle.

Last cycle Summer. It feels like forever ago but also just yesterday it all started. We can’t imagine what you’ve gone through- Don’t sweat. The end in sight.

The Diagnosis: What the HELL happened to Summer??!

On April 10th our worlds flipped on it's head as Summer was admitted to Brigham & Women's hospital in Boston. After an absolutely terrifying first few undiagnosed days she finally ended up on the Dana Farber floor and diagnosed with primary mediastinal lymphoma with a 4in x 5in mass on and in her heart.

Chemotherapy started Tuesday April 19th. She was discharged from the hospital on April 24th and will continue her treatments as an outpatient of Dana Farber.

Her chemo treatment will be 5 days for 6 cycles, each cycle is 21 days (~126 days total) ending on/around August 23rd. In positive news, the doctors have stressed this is an extremely treatable cancer and in most cases once removed, does not return.

The outpouring of love and support has been incredible. We couldn't have made it through this without our family and friends. Thank you.
