The Vivienne Sends Love to Summer in the Hospital Wednesday (Day 13 Cycle 5)

OMG - The Vivienne sends an amazing message of encouragement to Summer! (Thank you, Cindy Collins!!)

Summer is currently at BWH, on the Dana Farber floor. 

Summer woke up early.  Her throat was still in bad shape - on a scale from 1-10 she’d give it a 7.    She’s getting pain meds and fluids through her IV and they are watching to have her neutrophils hit 500+ before she can go home.  Maybe tomorrow, maybe Friday.  

But before I continue to report out on the medical front, I have to share the bright spot in Summer’s day!  Our amazing friend, Cindy Collins, surprised Summer with a video message from one of her favorite drag queens -please watch the video below.  Getting this message, and while in the hospital- the timing was perfect - and it meant so much to Summer. She is SO EXCITED to message The Viv when she gets home!  Admittedly watching it, I cried. This was a really connection -especially sharing tips about wigs and offering to connect personally with Summer. WOW! ❤️💚❤️

Summer's response to watching the video message from The Vivienne! 

Laura was with Summer today at BWH and we all loved that aside from The Viv, it was a ‘BORING’ day!  Lunch was chicken soup, mashed potatoes and vanilla ice cream.   Unfortunately Summer could barely eat any of it, her mouth and throat are so raw and sore.  

On her door they say that Summer has a neutropenic fever and anyone entering has to wear a mask and wash their hands.  (😃Although everyone has to wear a mask anyway??)  

Here temperature today registered at 98.4!! They are still trying to figure out what had spiked her fever yesterday.  She tested negative for COVID, among other things. Results below:

While none of us like that Summer is in the hospital, given her current state, she’s in the best place she can possibly be.  Summer is actually relieved being there. Brooke is the night nurse again and Summer loves her - which is awesome. It’s very reassuring that when we can’t be there for Summer that these amazing nurses are taking such good care of her and making it so she doesn’t feel alone at night. 

So tomorrow Bob and Kim are going in. Here’s to hoping for another day of BORING and getting Summer to where she can swallow!
