Take a Break Friday (Day 8 Cycle 4)

Schedule of the Day: 

  • 9am:  Derek off to work 
  • 9:30am:  Colby’s REAL last day of football camp 
  • REST & STAY HYDRATED (95 degree heat!) 
  • 5pm:  Gostkowski to Wrentham @ The Gavel
  • 7pm-ish: Laura, Derek & Summer to Kate’s for Colin’s bday celebration 

Today we are TAKIN’ IT SLOW…

Good morning Lake Archer! 

Busy dogs: Tucker, Dilly & Kody - all on separate missions. Tucker - retrieve all the tennis balls from the lake.  Kody - catch all the fish in the lake. Dilly - get all the rocks out of the lake. 

We hung up wall art in the Lakeside Lounge in anticipation of a busy 4th of July weekend. 

Laura saved a dog from drowning by hopping in a kayak & helping to get the owner. The owner had no idea that his dog had been following him. 

Kim took on some insurance tasks. 

Giving Summer a break today.   I know that probably sounds funny… but let’s just say that.

This is the temperature in Apt D today. Didn’t stop Summer/us from hanging out in there!

The Team Summer support squad converged on The Gavel to meet up with Stephen Gostkowski- yep, the once kicker for the New England Patriots.  He was great, the weather was perfect & Bob Dunder-Mifflined a guy from the band.

    Summer,
    We couldn’t love you more ! All of your life you have been up for adventure. This current one came without your permission and I know it is a difficult, exhausting battle. Even with the most incredible love and support around you, as you have, this battle SUCKS! It is clear that you are waging war as gracefully as possible with as much humor and tenacity as one can muster. You are a warrior! It’s okay to get discouraged and down for a bit. It is not your nature to enjoy having to be inactive and tired. I know that you are staying focused on the light at the end of the tunnel, the end of August.

    I heard the lyrics in song yesterday, “Healing doesn’t happen in a straight line.” I thought of you and the battle you are fighting. You’ve got this, Honey. You are our Summertime Warrior.

Team Summer converged upon Summer’s Southie apartment to celebrate her 1 year “cancerversary” which Summer decided was going to be on the day she was admitted (versus her last day of treatment or NED).  We had a fantastic evening with lots of laughs - probably therapeutic to be able to tell stories NOW, with Summer being so healthy.  Summer wanted a “Frankenstein cake” to celebrate, so that’s exactly what we made.    Celebrating 1 year with Summer’s friends at her apartment

Summer is OFFICIALLY CANCER FREE!!

 OMG BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! Summer met with Dr. Parry - got her results today and she is “NED - No evidence of disease” - which means that Summer is officially cancer free and in remission!!!! Her heart is “totally normal” and Summer has moved into surveillance mode with check ins every 3 months for the next two years!!! 💚😂💚😂 Bob took a ton up pictures and we will write up a post later but for now …  WE CELEBRATE!!

Finally time for a HAIRCUT!

Summer is glowing after her haircut this evening!    Summer’s gorgeous hair is growing in full & thick!  In celebration of her returning locks, Aunt Becky gifted her a haircut in Boston which she took advantage of this evening - and WOW !! 🤩🤩🤩 “No more mullet!” ~Summer We have all loved watching Summer’s hair grow back.  Summer looks STUNNING in short hair.  Tonight was a wonderful milestone and made a huge difference being able to go to a salon to get it cut & styled.  YOU LOOK AMAZING SUMMER!! 💚💚💚
