Sunday (Day 3 Cycle 5)
Schedule:
- Summer teaches Bob Fortnight (well, sorta)
- 2:30pm Summer to Dana Farber for chemo bag swap to day 3&4 (with Kim)
- Apt D Lounging
- Dinner - Take out from House of Fortune
- 8pm Laura, Derek & Colby home from Onset
- Movie/Game night: Between Two Ferns and Sequence (Team Laura & Kim go UNDEFEATED!)

Summer was feeling “just ok” today and spent the morning in bed teaching her dad to play Fortnight. Summer’s an incredible teacher and has the patience and skill to explain modern concepts to even the most difficult of students. #mightaswellbeboomers
Today is Day 3 which means we head into Dana Farber to swap out her chemo bag and receive a new bag containing her next 48 hours of medication.

Kim joined Summer on her treatment today. We got a nice chair at a window but overlooking the park which was side of the building with a different view than Summer has had before. She really liked it, recalling that’s where the dog adoption events are on Wednesdays. |
| Christina was our nurse today. This was the first time Summer’s had Christina - and not surprisingly she was awesome, caring for Summer’s chemo infusion and chatting about apartment hunting in Boston. |
Summer explained that she really hasn’t had much nausea but she’s been extremely tired. The chemo taste in her mouth is also a lot stronger - she actually brushed her teeth twice earlier today to try to counteract the taste.

Another big bag of medicine for the next 48 hours. The bag feels twice as heavy as previous cycles and Christine agreed explaining that prior to cycle 5, Summer was receiving her medicine at a rate of 20ml per hour but now during cycle 5 it’s pumping at 48ml per hour. WOW!!
Summer is almost all hooked up and we are ready to head home.

We all piled into Apt D for some need downtime and for dinner we decided to order take out from House of Fortune. We HIGHLY recommend the pineapple chicken fried rice!
When Laura got home, we played a few rounds of Sequence. Teams were Bob & Summer vs Laura & Kim.

| Bob secretly (no-so-secretly) took a picture of his hand, basically alerting all of us to the fact that he had a handful of Jacks. The jacks didn’t help much, as Laura set Kim up perfectly for the win! |
So we survived Day 3 with little fanfare.and are hunkering down for the effects of this round of chemo to start kicking in.

ReplyDeleteYou look amazing. You are so strong. I’m sure that is so hard knowing that you have more chemo ahead and knowing that it’ll make you feel so terrible. But, it is working!
And your bedazzled bag is the bomb! It looked great getting ready to be pressed into service.
I ate that you are tired and feel g sick from the medicine. Keep the faith and hang in there. Love you so! Kathy Whitehair
Summer is so classy with her stylist off one shoulder dresses. Infusing the chemo 2.4 times faster than before—yeow, off to the races. That’s a real blood thinning. Just in terms of dilution all her blood measurements would be artificially lowered. It’s great that this toughest of all cycles is going so well, as we can see the bright lights at the end of the tunnel. R&B
