Welcome to the Summer Strong blog. These are stories, pictures, and notes of Summer's Cancer Treatment (hates the term journey) in an attempt to keep a record of what's happening with Summer/us. Check out her full diagnosis on the side panel. Please leave comments on posts. With Summer’s chemo treatment over & her now being in remission, we will be tapering off posting daily to only big updates.
Thank you for all the love and support! Love, Team Summer

Schedule Today:
1pm Social Worker Tara- zoom meeting
To Wrentham
Overall today felt like a better day. Summer slept in a bit, she had a good conversation with Tara (social worker) - determined they both liked the same author so shared titles for summer reading, and we ventured back down to Wrentham. When we arrived, this hat was waiting for Summer! We are so touched by the amazing community & friends we have in Eastman, NH!! Thank you Lori & Dan!
The folks at Eastman Golf Links & Forbes Tavern send their love to Summer - #SummerSTRONG - Thanks Lori & Dan!
Bob enjoying a delicious Protectworth Brewery beer - a brewery soon to open in the Eastman area.
Bob and Summer making rings with her new ring bending tool. Summer’s tool is bigger … haha
Summer’s arm robot went off right on schedule. Summer didn’t feel a thing, just heard the device’s solenoid start up. We made a video of Bob removing the device from Summer’s arm. Personally I think I did an amazing job with this video seeing as I had my eyes closed while recording - hahaha!
We started the Murder Mystery puzzle and it’s so very cool. I’m slightly addicted & can’t wait to figure out who dunnit! Thank you Lem & NHTDave!
We enjoyed a beautiful summer evening outside at Apt D watching Seinfeld and The Community projected on the side of the van, made rings and ordered pizza. Laura & Derek got home & we all moved inside to watch the Celtics WIN game 3!! Summer continues to struggle with a stomach ache so we are hoping we can figure out the balance of meds to counter her symptoms and get her regulated. Have we mentioned cancer sucks??
Tomorrow we have a visiting nurse & hopefully a visit from a friend!
Love the cap! Swell friends you have up North! Cool video on removing the injector. As Aunt Patti would always say, “A bit more than I need to know”. We’ve learned a lot on this ride, and it’s impressive how much they’ve farmed out from the hospital. You folks are doctors learning on the fly both patient and Team Summer. Pretty incredible everyone. This ordeal is not for the feint hearted, and though even if you were, it doesn’t leave room for it and one becomes hardened pretty quickly. Now even I can look at the injector removal without shrinking away too much. Pops
HA - definitely a bit more than anyone needs to know - for sure! And Summer continues to prove what a ROCK STAR she is! I am humbled daily by what she endures.
PLEASE NOTE if you post as Anonymous, please put your name in your message so Summer knows who is writing the comment. Thank you so much for your comment! Summer will be notified each time someone makes a comment. xoxo Team Summer
Team Summer converged upon Summer’s Southie apartment to celebrate her 1 year “cancerversary” which Summer decided was going to be on the day she was admitted (versus her last day of treatment or NED). We had a fantastic evening with lots of laughs - probably therapeutic to be able to tell stories NOW, with Summer being so healthy. Summer wanted a “Frankenstein cake” to celebrate, so that’s exactly what we made. Celebrating 1 year with Summer’s friends at her apartment
OMG BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! Summer met with Dr. Parry - got her results today and she is “NED - No evidence of disease” - which means that Summer is officially cancer free and in remission!!!! Her heart is “totally normal” and Summer has moved into surveillance mode with check ins every 3 months for the next two years!!! 💚😂💚😂 Bob took a ton up pictures and we will write up a post later but for now … WE CELEBRATE!!
Summer is glowing after her haircut this evening! Summer’s gorgeous hair is growing in full & thick! In celebration of her returning locks, Aunt Becky gifted her a haircut in Boston which she took advantage of this evening - and WOW !! 🤩🤩🤩 “No more mullet!” ~Summer We have all loved watching Summer’s hair grow back. Summer looks STUNNING in short hair. Tonight was a wonderful milestone and made a huge difference being able to go to a salon to get it cut & styled. YOU LOOK AMAZING SUMMER!! 💚💚💚
