Tuesday Summer Solstice (Day 19 Cycle 3)


Schedule:

  • 10am visiting nurse Erin

There’s still a lingering bug haunting the Team Summer South household - Derek’s voice is being compared to a raspy Demi Moore & sadly not everyone’s back at 100% but sounds like Summer is feeling significantly better today.  When asked to rate herself on a 1-5 puppies scale (5 puppies being great and 1 puppy being stay in bed) Summer rated herself at a 🐶🐶🐶🐶 FOUR!  

Summer enjoys the summer solstice in her fiery red wig out on the deck! 

The visiting nurse came today to clean Summer’s dressing & PICC line-  no bloodwork today since she’s going into Dana Farber tomorrow.  



Summer ranked herself a 4 out of 5 puppies today!

Tomorrow is a big day as cycle 3 nears its end - Summer needs to fast in preparation for her PET scan followed by a visit with Dr. Parry.  Bob will be taking her into Dana Farber tomorrow after he drops Kim off at work for her last “in person” day.

    Stellar news! Not that Derek sounds like Demi, but that Summer feels four puppies strong—great improvement. Kim last day and the start of an interesting new chapter or even new book in her life. She’s up to and welcomes the challenge. Great all around though we need to get Derek sounding like his old self. Pops

Team Summer converged upon Summer’s Southie apartment to celebrate her 1 year “cancerversary” which Summer decided was going to be on the day she was admitted (versus her last day of treatment or NED).  We had a fantastic evening with lots of laughs - probably therapeutic to be able to tell stories NOW, with Summer being so healthy.  Summer wanted a “Frankenstein cake” to celebrate, so that’s exactly what we made.    Celebrating 1 year with Summer’s friends at her apartment

Summer is OFFICIALLY CANCER FREE!!

 OMG BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! Summer met with Dr. Parry - got her results today and she is “NED - No evidence of disease” - which means that Summer is officially cancer free and in remission!!!! Her heart is “totally normal” and Summer has moved into surveillance mode with check ins every 3 months for the next two years!!! 💚😂💚😂 Bob took a ton up pictures and we will write up a post later but for now …  WE CELEBRATE!!

Finally time for a HAIRCUT!

Summer is glowing after her haircut this evening!    Summer’s gorgeous hair is growing in full & thick!  In celebration of her returning locks, Aunt Becky gifted her a haircut in Boston which she took advantage of this evening - and WOW !! 🤩🤩🤩 “No more mullet!” ~Summer We have all loved watching Summer’s hair grow back.  Summer looks STUNNING in short hair.  Tonight was a wonderful milestone and made a huge difference being able to go to a salon to get it cut & styled.  YOU LOOK AMAZING SUMMER!! 💚💚💚
