Saturday (Day 2 Cycle 3)

Cancer sucks!
Today was a tough day - for all of us. This crap takes an emotional toll not only on Summer, but on everyone involved - but Summer can’t even get the slightest break from it. She wants so badly to take control of this and power through it on her own terms rather than get dragged through. Today felt like getting dragged.
Summer hates the physical feeling of chemo - she’s extremely tired, is jittery & has a tingling feeling in her extremities (neuropathy). She has no appetite. Today she was in bed until 3pm.

| More keeping record of the daily meds & how Summer is feeling. |
As the day continued into the evening, things got progressively better. Talking helps. Helps a lot actually. Being honest about feelings - good & bad- is always healthy to talk through, knowing we are all in this together & need each other.

| Many deep conversations have been had at this table (our favorite) over the years. And continues today… |
In this video, Summer walks through what she does every day to clean her PICC line (with her Dad as her comedic sidekick!)
In other Team Summer news: Derek is feeling better (YEAH!). Colby did great in his TWO baseball games (I don’t know how he does it.). And it was a family affair parking for Monster Jam at the Liquor Store!
Oh yeah - and Kim finally got new running shoes! #BostonMarathonBound

I agree, Cancer sucks! But Team Summer really has handled a difficult situation extremely well and is powering through. Congratulations! Summer is a great leader and role model for all of us. Your daily reports keep us update and involved. Everyone one of you is handling it masterfully exhibiting strong character. Pops
ReplyDeleteShe really is a great leader & role model - Thanks, Pop!
ReplyDeleteSummer, that was a really great demo on how the medication is added to your system. There was some funny stuff going on in the background. You do it so calmly like it’s just eating an apple. It seems like it’s a lot of stuff to inject diluting the blood so that it’s mostly water—non-blood. So interesting, and you’re so brave.
ReplyDeleteTo follow all the threads and rabbit trails to read the blog takes some doing, as we don’t want to miss anything. Pops.
