Yesterday was 'Friday' but today is Tuesday(Day 6 Cycle 2)

Today Summer started the day off sad/pretty down on the overall situation and very tired. She didn’t sleep well at all last night, not getting to sleep until around 2am. Luckily she was able to sleep in - but that didn't seem to help.

Nothing is on the schedule for Summer today other than her Neulasta medical device on her arm which will go off automatically tonight at 6:35pm, - so it’s a low key day.  And what better to do then to hang out in the van (aka Apt D)!  Summer cozied up and binge watched Seinfeld. It was great to hear her giggling away and then she fell asleep - took a 2 hour nap!

Bob donates blood platelets today:  Flashback to when we were in the BWH hospital with Summer, the nurses talked about the shortage of blood & platelets available to patients and that it’s becoming more & more a crisis. Bob tried to donate blood while Summer was admitted but he was on medication for poison ivy, so he had to wait until that cleared - and now that it has, he made an appointment for 2pm today.  

He said that the needle must have been in wrong because he spent 2 hours in excruciating pain, needles in both arms and had to squeeze a ball.  The nurses came over to check on him from time to time and even asked if he wanted to stop.  He figured if Summer can go through what she's going through, he can handle this!  (I am so damn impressed) 

Fragomen/Unum:  Kim posted the Fit for Duty form yesterday and the FMLA Team at DFCI said they would fax the Family Medical Provider form directly to Unum and email Summer a copy. Unfortunately Summer hadn’t gotten the email, so just in case, Kim left a message with Unum on the portal and emailed the HR/LAOs at Fragomen’s. 

The Fit for Duty now lists Summer’s date for returning to the office as November 1, 2022. 

Arm Robot:  At 6:35pm there was a clicking on the Neulasta device in Summer's arm and then the medication started without much fanfare and lasted about 45 minutes. At 7:35, Bob was able to remove it and did it when they were cleaning her lines for the day.  Once removed, the device needed to be put into sharps container (Note: we need to keep track of where we store that.  We may need to return it for insurance purposes)

Note the green light & that the indicator shows EMPTY. Now it is safe to remove.

Below is what Bob referred to as "the robot" in her arm.  Bob took care of all of this while Laura and Kim made themselves extremely busy doing super important things in another room.  

This is the back of the device in Summer's arm. Just LOOKING at it makes me shiver!
