Tuesday (Day 20 Cycle 2)
Schedule:
10:30am Visiting Nurse - Natasha
Natasha came and did bloodwork, cleaned Summer’s lines and changed her dressing.
Summer’s prescription that we had been waiting for, Lexapro, came in, so Laura & Summer went to pick it up. Summer is not feeling well and exhausted today.
Nana ordered us all Omaha Steaks that we thought arrived and had been picked up by a neighbor (Amy) and put in her freezer. We come to learn today that Laura & Derek's Shakeology arrived - no Omaha steak cooler. After confirming with Kim's mother, looks like they were sent to a similar, but different address that is about a mile away - so Bob and Kim decide to go check it out. That address doesn't even exist so we have no idea where the steaks ended up. BUT Nana to the rescue - she had a package resent to the correct address and should be arriving on Sunday. Thank you, Nana!
Bob prepped meals so Summer would have some healthy food to eat - her favorite jambalaya and some sous vie chicken, rice & green beans.
Nadir is a term that basically means low point. When a person with cancer reaches their “nadir” following each chemotherapy infusion, it means that the person's blood cell counts are the lowest they will be during that treatment cycle. Each chemotherapy treatment comes with a nadir period.

So if I read the charts correctly, during the nadir phase Summer is the most vulnerable to infection because of her low white blood cells. So these are the days she really must protects herself from others to avoid being contaminated. Hmmm. Pops
ReplyDeleteCorrect, Pops. For cycle 3 nadir (days 10-12) is June 12,13,14 when we all have to be our most careful. ~Kim Hofeldt
DeleteToday is close to the last day of Cycle 2 and the soon start of Cycle 3–near the halfway point? The end is clearly in site—thanks god. Pops
